World Book Day 2026

Thursday 6 March 2025

A wonderful celebration of reading and literacy for World Book Day this year!

We’ve had a fantastic day celebrating the joy of reading for World Book Day! Our family Community Meetings have been championing the power of literacy and encouraging every learner to find a story that sparks their curiosity.

Our lunchtime Book Exchange was a resounding success! It was wonderful to see so many learners explore the displays and discover new titles to take home, perfectly capturing the spirit of curiosity that we’ve been celebrating all day!

All learners also received a World Book Day token to redeem at participating retailers, libraries and online bookstores. You can learn more about how to exchange a book token on the World Book Day website here.

Our subject-themed treasure hunt also saw learners searching for hidden clues that linked some of their favourite books to different areas of the curriculum. Well done to everyone who took part!

Year 7 learners spent a lovely morning with pupils from Beaumont Primary School and Ladybridge Primary School to share a love of reading on World Book Day. We also enjoyed seeing pupils in their wonderful costumes!

While World Book Day is always a highlight in our school calendar, Ladybridge is committed to inspiring a love of reading throughout the year. Our current library space, ‘The Nook’ has a comprehensive online library with Libib, featuring a variety of fiction and non-fiction books to suit all genres and encourage a love of reading. You can learn more about our current library here.

We’ll also be sharing a reading challenge from the National Literacy Trust soon for KS3 learners to become involved in – keep an eye on our socials and school bulletins for more details to follow!
