Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Ladybridge High School we endeavour to ensure that all learners with SEND consistently have the same high quality educational and enrichment experiences as those without SEND so they make progress in line with their peers.  We want learners to feel safe, happy and supported whilst building their WISDOM qualities (resilience, respect, commitment, curiosity, teamwork and kindness) as well as developing their self belief and agency so they are independent and become good citizens.  We aim to provide; a safe and happy environment in which all learners have the opportunity to develop personally, physically, socially, academically and spiritually; a broad and balanced curriculum through the Trivium, so they gain real world experiences and are prepared for life after Ladybridge.

We are no longer known as the SEND or Learning Support department at Ladybridge High School.  We endeavour to remove the stigma associated with the word SEND and aim to make learners feel included and empowered to learn and achieve so we are known as START Network (Support That’s Additional, Robust and Targeted).  We use a ‘treat as if’ approach in our everyday teaching so that all barriers to learning are removed and all needs are consistently met across the school.  To achieve this we continue to follow a graduated approach to the support and provision we offer via the Assess, Plan, Do, Review process.
