Mindfulness

At Ladybridge, we teach the .b Mindfulness in Schools course to all of our learners.  At its most basic level, mindfulness helps train your attention to be more aware of what is actually happening, rather than worrying about what has happened or might happen. We learn to bring greater curiosity to whatever it is we experience. Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founding father of secular mindfulness, described this skill as ‘being alive and knowing it’.

This short animation might explain it more clearly:

Mindfulness has the following benefits:

  1. Improved concentration and performance
  1. Increased composure and resilience
  1. Greater appreciation of life

Mindfulness is incorporated into our Year 9 curriculum and additional mindfulness sessions are available for learners based on interest and need.

In addition to teaching the lessons live, we have a Microsoft Stream Mindfulness channel that includes all the .b lessons pre-recorded.
