Sporting Highlights – Spring Term 2026

End of Term Update: Celebrating Sporting Success at Ladybridge!

This term has been filled with outstanding achievements, growing participation, and brilliant demonstrations of our WISDOM values across Sport and Health. From leadership to badminton, girls’ football to dodgeball, our learners continue to impress with their commitment, teamwork, and resilience.

Leadership in Primary Schools

Our Sports Leaders have done an incredible job supporting local primary schools this term. They have led activities with confidence, helping younger pupils develop skills, enjoy participation, and experience the joy of sport. Their leadership reflects the maturity, teamwork, and WISDOM values we foster at Ladybridge. We thank Miss Bryan for all her hard work this term working with the Sports Leadership Team.

Badminton Club and Fixtures

Badminton Club has continued to grow, with excellent attendance and rapid skill development across all year groups. Girls-only sessions have continued to create a supportive space for participation, confidence, and teamwork. Our competitive fixtures have also provided learners with fantastic opportunities to test and showcase their skills.

Girls’ Football

Our girls’ football program has gone from strength to strength, showing determination, skill, and teamwork in every session and fixture. Learners have represented Ladybridge with pride and continue to demonstrate resilience and collaboration on and off the pitch.

Dodgeball Championships – Boys and Girls

The Dodgeball Championships this term have been a huge success. The joint Boys’ and Girls’ teams showed excellent communication, strategy, and determination throughout their matches. Their teamwork and competitiveness were outstanding, and one team finished 2nd in the Greater Manchester schools competition.

Looking Ahead: Swimming Gala & Bluezones Year 8 Project

Next term, we are excited to host the Swimming Gala, giving learners the chance to demonstrate skill, fitness and teamwork in the pool.

Our Year 8 learners will also begin the Blue Zones Project, focusing on healthy lifestyles, physical activity, and wellbeing. This project will challenge learners to explore their communities, track habits and develop strategies to make positive lifestyle choices.

Year 9 Learner Voice

We are asking Year 9 learners to reflect on last year’s Blue Zones project pledges and complete feedback. This is a great opportunity for learners to evaluate how well they’ve stuck to their personal commitments and reflect on their growth.

Summer Term Preview

In the summer term, we move to cricket, rounders, and athletics championships, continuing to provide opportunities for learners to develop their skills, challenge themselves and experience the joy of competition.

Well done to every learner involved in sport, leadership and health this term – you continue to make Ladybridge proud. We look forward to an even more exciting Summer Term!
