Holocaust Memorial Museum

As an alumni Beacon school, our Year 9 learners have been following the University College London Centre for Holocaust Education Scheme of Learning since September.

They have been learning about eradicating the misconceptions of the Holocaust and have taken key elements of the book, ‘Understanding the Holocaust’, to create their presentations to exhibit in their Holocaust Museum for Holocaust Memorial Day.

We are very proud of our learners’ commitment and agency in creating some wonderful pieces of work for the project and how well the information was communicated to our visitors. Well done, Year 9!

Exhibition Feedback

“An impressive Holocaust Memorial Museum, presented with such passion & knowledge by all Year 9 learners. Wonderful to hear all the research & see design panels. A pleasure to attend”.
Caroline Slifkin – Artist, Holocaust educator and Holocaust arts educator.

“Such an impressive display of work – the level of detail and the quality of presentation was really incredible! I had some wonderful conversations with students. Well done to all of Year 9 and thank you for the invitation to join you on Holocaust Memorial Day”.
Mrs Nicola Manon – Outreach Support and International Teacher, Achievement, Cohesion & Integration Service, Bolton ACIS

Thank you for the invitation to the Holocaust presentation by Year 9. What a lot of work went into it!  I thought I knew all the main facts about that event but I left knowing so much more.  So many stories were displayed about the victims, the heroes, the survivors and the information boards were all well presented with very clear text and well researched photos.  The young people were clearly very engaged with their particular topic and were anxious to talk about it to us“.
Cllr Anne Galloway – Executive Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Bolton Council (Heaton and Lostock Ward)

“The quality of this exhibition is better than any other we have created before; I love the agency and independency of the work!”.
Mr Russell – Headteacher, Ladybridge High School
