Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you are all well.
A video version of this update can be found here:
Firstly, I would like to thank all parents and carers for their support during the course of this academic year. It has been another brilliant year at the school in so many ways, with another set of incredible real world learning projects that have challenged our learners and developed a range of skills and qualities. Many of these projects are detailed in this webpost. This year has also seen further progress in our personal development provision, culminating in a wonderful Personal Development Day last week and the upcoming WISDOM days (Friday 17th July and Monday 20th July).
We are excited about the new building being fully operational in September. The new library space will provide a university style environment, which will be ideally suited to the project work our learners experience. There are also excellent new facilities for Art, Humanities and Careers.
Next year brings a renewed focus on all learners being Prepared for Learning (PFL). This includes all learners having the following items every day:
The items with the asterix will be provided by the school, although learners can use their own pencil case if they choose. Learners will receive one warning if they do not have these items to be prepared for learning. If they are still without these items the following day they will receive a detention over dinner time.
There has been new legislation around the use of mobile phones. We have been a phone free environment in this academic year and this will continue to be the case as we work within the new government guidance. We ask that parents and carers support us by ensuring that any communication with home is via the learner services office as learners should not be using mobile phones during the school day in any way.
In the final term of every academic year, we review the teaching groups for Key Stage 3. Following discussions with Heads of Department, Heads of Family and Heads of Learning, we have readdressed the Teaching Groups for non-core subjects and made significant changes to ensure we can maximise learning. Timetables will be distributed on the first day of September in Form Time.
The last day of the school year is on Tuesday the 21st of July. Learners will be leaving the school site at 1.35pm.
Here are some other key dates to be aware of:
Thank you again for all your support during this academic year.
Yours faithfully,

Paddy Russell
Headteacher
