In a special assembly for the Young Green Briton Challenge, our Year 7 cohort learned how they will be working in teams to discuss key environmental issues and find creative, real-world solutions that they can prototype to present at a ‘Dragon’s Den’. As one of over 70 schools taking part nationally, we’re excited to be involved and are very much looking forward to seeing how the challenge progresses with our creative and curious Year 7 learners. With regional and national events to follow, we’re confident a team can promote their ideas for a greener, sustainable solution!

Our first design workshop took place last week and we were super impressed with the brilliant ideas from our Year 7 learners!
From energy saving concepts to innovative recycling designs, there was plenty of brainstorming, creative prototyping and excellent Teamwork and Respect taking place across the year group, as they worked together to design a sustainable and realistic product for positive environmental impact. Well done, everyone!
Looking forward to the next rounds in May!

Our Year 7 teams completed some excellent Dragon’s Den pitches at The Met in Bury today about their energy solution designs! In front of other competing schools, they presented their plans to the judges and will now continue with their project alongside other schools to industry experts in June. Well done to everyone involved for amazing teamwork, creativity and curiosity!

Today our Year 7 learners Aaraiz, Elisha, Ayaan, Abdullahi, Ethan and Mirwais were at the Young Green Britain awards in Manchester to present their ‘Easy Energy’ idea to a judging panel alongside other schools. Their idea – a way of generating and storing energy each time a door is opened – had already won both a school and regional competition and the learners had produced an outstanding video and prototype ahead of Friday’s final.
At the event, ‘Easy Energy’ pitched their idea and were praised by the judges for their innovation and communication skills. While the idea was not selected to move forward to the national finals, the learners did an outstanding job – particularly considering many of the other teams were composed of older students. Ladybridge looks forward to taking part in the YGBC project next year and send congratulations again to the finalists on their excellent presentations.
