Today we welcomed Year 6 pupils for their Transition Day as they prepare to join the Ladybridge family as our new Year 7 cohort in September. Everyone was introduced to their new families of Aslan, Intare, León, Raion, Simba and Tau and attended a special family assembly outlining what to expect when they start secondary school.
We were so impressed by how well the Year 6 pupils connected with our WISDOM qualities! They shared excellent examples of their own experiences during Mr Russell’s assembly, including a particularly impressive political example for Resilience!
Throughout the day, Year 6 Superstar cards were awarded to recognise pupils demonstrating our WISDOMS: Teamwork, Resilience, Respect, Kindness, Curiosity and Commitment. These cards would then grant entry to our special Performing Arts Summer production reward, and the winners of the special prize draw would also be announced at the end of the day!
A range of fun activities followed across a range of subjects, some which hadn’t been experienced before! There was food tasting in Food Technology, Flame Testing in Chemistry and studying Heroes & Villains in English. We also had some lovely Zentangle drawings that were created in our very own school lion logo and in MFL, pupils demonstrated lots of Curiosity and Resilience as they practised their Spanish speaking skills!
Everyone enjoyed a spot of lunch in the Hub with friends…old and new!
In the afternoon, Year 6 settled down with popcorn and drinks to watch a special preview performance of Beauty and the Beast Jr!
The Year 6 Superstar cards that had been awarded throughout the day for demonstrating our WISDOM qualities were drawn for special prizes – well done to everyone!
Year 6 – we hope you’ve had a wonderful time during your transition day and we can’t wait to see you again for the start of the new school year in September. Have a wonderful Summer break!
A HUGE thank you to all our Ladybridge Ambassadors who have helped to support our Transition Day today. As always, you are amazing!
