Miss King’s Year 8 English class have been working with poet Anita Slater, who inspired them to write poetry on the theme, ‘Objects of Hope’. Engaging in six different workshops, learners completed lots of different poetry activities to help them achieve a quality, meaningful piece of work that resulted in their published poem; as well as the exhibition, all of the poems have been published in a Comino anthology.
During the project, learners also visited the Science and Industry Museum to gain inspiration for their work. Their wonderful examples of teamwork, agency and resilience has allowed them to produce the beautiful work currently displayed at the Manchester Poetry Library.
The library is free to the public and the learners’ exhibition will be running until September. If you should visit Manchester during the summer holidays, please pay a visit this wonderful exhibition!

It was wonderful to receive feedback from visitors at Manchester Poetry Library this week!
“Wonderful space – love the ‘hope’ poems in the window display. It filled my heart and mind with hope – osmosis at its finest.”
