This Is Us – Book Launch

This Is Us – A new book celebrating the lives of our diverse population.

Learners and staff are excited to be launching our very own book at the Library Lecture Theatre, Bolton Museum, Le Mans Crescent on Wednesday 18th October from 6.00pm – 7.30pm.

This wonderful project shares the stories of 25 people in our school community.  Ladybridge School is full of amazing people who come from a diverse range of nationalities and backgrounds. In putting this book together, staff and learners worked with the inspiring Krish Patel and Madiha Sosan from Tales to Inspire – a fantastic local organisation focused on harnessing the power of stories to make connections to others. These inspiring stories provide an insight into the fascinating lives of our diverse community.  Their bravery, compassion and positive attitudes shines through the book and shows that although we each have very different experiences in life, we share much of the same goals and share a desire to be happy and make a positive contribution to the lives of others.

This short film accompanies the book:

The publication of this book has been generously supported by the North West Creative Comino Consortium – an organisation that supports important work in schools across the North West in creating cultural, creative and real-world experiences for young people.  Thanks to Pat Walters (Director of Strategy) and Deborah Davidson (Consultant Programme Director) for your support with this project and many others!  As a result of this funding, we are able to donate all proceeds from the sale of this book to BRASS – A Bolton based charity led by Malcolm Ngouala which supports refugees and asylum seekers with a range of services to help overcome barriers and integrate into the local community.  I highly recommend a visit to their centre, which is filled with warmth, hope and a genuine belief in the power of community.  More information can be found on their website at: www.brassbolton.org
