Drop Everything and Read

After February half term, we will be launching ‘Drop Everything and Read’ (DEAR) with KS3 students. A bell will sound during lessons twice each week and when it does, students and staff will stop what they’re doing, take out their reading books and read! We really want to encourage students to read for pleasure because it has been proven that those who do perform significantly better at school than other students. Not only does reading regularly help to improve vocabulary development, it also has a significant impact on maths and spelling. For more information about the impact of reading on students’ performance, please see this website.
