The community is very important to us. It is a central part of our ethos that learners should engage with their community, becoming active and positive citizens. We try to bring this ethos to life through engaging, motivating and inspiring learners of all ages across the community through our curriculum, extra curricular projects and extended services. It is through the interaction with our local, national and international community that learners appreciate the issues that affect us today and develop a sense of pride in their community.
We aim to give as much back to our local community as we can, and if you have any ideas for ways in which we can work together, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Details of some of our projects are detailed below:
Parenting support sessions
In order to help our parents to support their child through the transition to secondary school from primary school, we have hosted a series of sessions aimed at developing support for children through school. The sessions have focused on transition, developing positive parenting strategies and gaining an understanding of the transition between childhood and teenage life. If you want further information please contact us on 01204 333355.
Teenage Health Project
This is a five year project which aims to give students at Ladybridge High School information, advice and guidance on a wide range of emotional wellbeing and physical health issues. For further information please contact wilkinsone@ladybridgehigh.co.uk
Boxing Club
The school has been working with the Primary Care Trust and has built up an excellent relationship, as result of this there has been a boxing club that has been set up. Offering male classes, female classes, children and mixed groups. This has been excellent in improving pupil’s commitment and maturity and really developed the fitness of those who attend.
Sunflower Club
The sunflower club aims to enable pupils to build their confidence and self esteem, to encourage building positive relationships with peers it provides a safe environment in which pupils can talk about issues that may be bothering them.
This club has been set up for vulnerable pupils who may have difficulties at home, limited social skills, find it difficult to make friends, pupils who are shy or withdrawn. The groups are run by Miss Beattie in the Olympic suite on Mondays and Fridays.
