Welcome to the Support Department. Our aim is to support pupils to enable them to develop the fundamental skills that are required in today’s society. Our support and guidance aims to enable pupils to have an enjoyable learning experience whilst developing their confidence and self-esteem.
Ladybridge High School is committed to providing wide ranging opportunities for all students within the school framework. Students with Cognition and Learning Difficulties, Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, Physical Difficulties, Hearing Impairments and Visual Impairments will need additional support at certain times in their schooling and the school aims to monitor these students' progress as effectively as possible in order to ensure that any necessary intervention is swift, and consequently addresses specific needs. All individual difficulties brought to our attention will be dealt with sympathetically, supportively and effectively.
Ladybridge High School has a dedicated support suite – The Planet Suite. The Key Stage 3 Access Classes are taught in the Planet Suite and the Local Authority’ Autism Spectrum Disorder secondary school resourced provision in also based there. The school’s Nurture Room is also in the Planet Suite.

All pupils with a Statement of Special Educational Needs receive their allocation of Learning Support hours each week across the curriculum.
There are three Access Classes in Key Stage 3 at Ladybridge High School. These classes are for pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 who require a significant amount of support to enable them to access the curriculum. They are based in the Planet Suite and stay together as discrete groups for the majority of their timetables, being taught mainly by one teacher.
Support for pupils with a Statement of Special Educational Needs is spread throughout the curriculum, depending on need.
In Key Stage 4, pupils who require a significant amount of support to enable them to access the curriculum follow a differentiated pathway as appropriate. Some of these are based in the Planet Suite.
