Our Vision for the Music Department
I am pleased to be able to invite you into the Music Department, where our aim is both to prepare students with the range of skills required in order to appreciate the diversity of music from the World’s different cultures, and also achieve an acceptable level of competency in the performance of music on an instrument.
Our long-term aim is always to make Music an enjoyable experience whilst ensuring that every student at Ladybridge is confident and productive within the realistic bounds of creative and re-creative music-making.
Our intention is to make the wonderful world of Music accessible to all of our students, and our goal is to enable them to be active participants in all aspects of the Music Curriculum: and at the highest level that they can achieve. This will include the acquisition of skills, understanding and experience in the areas of instrumental performance, composition and listening. We will also explore new Music Technologies through the use of ICT and music software. Indeed, the music industry is the UK’s largest and ever-expanding employer, and it is our desire that Ladybridge students will be in the forefront of those developing technologies.
Additionally, upon completion of the KS3/4 Music Programmes, it is hoped that our students will be in a position to continue their musical studies at a higher level both with enjoyment and success. Finally, it is true to say that today’s young people have grown up in a technological age embracing many cultures; and Music has been at the leading-edge of these changes and developments. Therefore, at Ladybridge, we continue to adapt our teaching practice and lesson content and delivery in order to remain at the forefront of these emerging trends and developments.
