Our Vision for the Information and Communication Technology Department
Welcome to the ICT department where we aim to prepare pupils with the fundamental skills required in modern society. We make ICT an enjoyable experience whilst ensuring every pupil at Ladybridge is confident in the creative and productive use of ICT.
Our goal is to provide ICT capability for all learners and our curriculum covers the mastery of technical skills and techniques alongside being able to apply these skills purposefully, safely and responsibly in learning and everyday life and employment. Today’s young people have grown up in a technological age therefore we continue to adapt our teaching practice and lesson content in order to remain at the cutting edge.
ICT offers pupils the opportunity to succeed in circumstances they would normally fail. It bridges communication barriers and develops more confident learners. ICT is used to prepare students to succeed independently in other subjects and outside of school through the development of the following personal learning and thinking skills.
Independent enquirers
Pupils use technology to answer questions, solve problems and test ideas often using the Internet to find information safely and efficiently.
Creative thinkers
Students create effective presentations for different audiences using sound, text and video.
Team Workers
They are able to share ideas both within school and across the globe individually and as part of a team using email and our brand new Learning Platform.
Self managers
Pupils are able to select the appropriate software and techniques they require. ICT supports students in their learning across all subjects outside of school. Pupils undertake planning and monitoring using Gant charts and spreadsheets to record their progress.
Effective participators
ICT enables children to participate fully in their learning 24 hours a day 7 days a week. ICT tools support collaboration in particular the learning platform and email system allow pupils to share ideas and feedback. ICT enables many students to take part who may not normally be confident speaking out loud in class.
Reflective learners
Pupils review, evaluate and modify work as they progress through each Key Stage. ICT tools are used to reflect and feedback on their own learning in addition to peer and teacher assessment against agreed criteria. Whole class demonstrations aid progress in order to improve their work.
