Design & Technology and Art

Curriculum for Design, Technology and Art
Yr 7
Yr 8

Design & Technology is taught through a variety of creative and practical activities. Students will be taught the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in the process of designing and making. They will work in a range of domestic and local contexts, for example: the home, leisure and culture; and industrial contexts, for example: engineering, manufacturing, construction, food, energy, agriculture and fashion.

Art, craft and design will engage, inspire and challenge students. They will also be equipped with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art. Students will be given the opportunity to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They will also learn about how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
