The Ladybridge Physical Education department is dedicated to providing all students with the opportunity to experience high quality PE lessons throughout their 5 years at the school. To this end, we take a lead role in providing training and networking opportunities with other schools and PE departments to ensure we are all well equipped to support our students in the best way possible.

We believe that we are at the cutting edge of current developments within Physical Education and we fully embrace the rapid growth, and use of, ICT and new technologies within PE. We recognise that students can grow and develop not only through physical activity as a participant but also in support roles such as official or coach and this is acknowledged across the department.

We aim to help every student to develop an understanding of what a healthy, active lifestyle is and to ensure that students to leave us with a desire to commit to lifelong participation in some aspect of sport. We harbour a strong Team Ladybridge spirit and working collaboratively and cooperatively is something that we endeavour to instil in our students.

Our extra-curricular programme is extensive and, in addition to after school clubs and practices we offer a variety of activities at lunchtime catering for both the competitive teams and students who just want to take part in physical activity for enjoyment.

We are extremely lucky to have the Ladybridge Sports Development and Performance Centre that provides excellent facilities for our students including: a 25m swimming pool, a sports hall that is set out for badminton, basketball, netball, football, cricket and tennis.  We also have a gymnasium, boxing suite, dance studio, two well-equipped fitness rooms, a climbing wall, an astro turf, tennis courts, netball courts and three professionally drained pitches.
GCSE results continue to improve and the last two cohorts have seen more A* and A grades than ever before.

The climate and culture of the PE Department is highly positive, with all students and staff, contributing to the sporting ethos of the school, supporting team work, commitment and enjoyment.
