At Ladybridge, we want our learners to understand that History is distinct from the past. The past is fixed, it has happened and cannot be changed. History, however, is always changing. History is how we interpret the past and how we place it into context.
The History Department at Ladybridge seeks to equip our learners with the tools they need to navigate the modern world. As well as a breadth of important knowledge about the past, we also ensure that our learners have the critical thinking skills to understand and challenge narratives. Ladybridge learners are taught and encouraged to engage with sources and interpretations in a critical way, evaluating evidence and reaching their own substantiated judgements.
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
George Santayana
